Terms of Service

Draft under review. Details shown in square brackets are still being completed; the finished version will replace this page.
In plain words
WeGuide is a place to explore who you are and what your future could look like. These terms are the deal between you and us for using it.
In short: use your own account, be yourself, treat other people with respect, and don't try to get at anyone else's information. What you make in WeGuide is yours. WeGuide helps you gather evidence about yourself; it never hands you a verdict.
If you are under 18, a parent or guardian needs to be fine with you using WeGuide. If your school enrolled you, your school's agreement with us also applies.
1. Who we are, and what these terms cover
WeGuide is operated by [WeGuide legal entity name], registered at [registered address] ("WeGuide", "we", "us"). These terms cover the WeGuide platform: the 3D town, the grade lands, the buildings and their screens, the Portfolio, the Mentorship Hub, the Help Desk, and every other part of the service you reach after signing in, on any device.
They do not cover the WeGuide marketing website, which has its own notices. They should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains what information we hold about you and why.
2. Who can use WeGuide
WeGuide is designed for secondary-school students in Grades 10 to 12, roughly ages 14 to 18. You must be at least 13 to have an account. If you are under 18, or under the age at which you can agree to terms like these where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf, and by letting you use WeGuide they confirm that they do.
Most students join because their school enrolled them: the school places your email address on its roster, and when you sign in WeGuide attaches your school and grade to your account. Students can also join on their own, without a school.
School staff, counselors, and mentors have accounts of their own with different tools and different responsibilities. Where these terms say "you", they mean whoever holds the account; the school-specific parts are in section 9.
3. Your account
You need one account, in your own name, with a working email address and a password only you know. Do not share your password or let anyone else use your account, and do not use anyone else's. If you think someone has got into your account, change your password and tell us or your school straight away.
You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep the information in your account accurate; you can edit it at any time from your home in the town.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that we reasonably believe is being misused, or that puts other people at risk. Where we can, we will tell you why.
4. What WeGuide is, and what it is not
WeGuide is a learning experience for career discovery. Over Grades 10 to 12 it helps you collect evidence about the world of work and about yourself: what you are curious about, what you are good at, what you value, what you noticed and chose and made. It shows that evidence back to you so that you can draw your own conclusions.
WeGuide does not diagnose you, label you, or tell you what you are or what you should become. Anything it shows you about yourself is a pattern in what you did, worth exploring and free to change. It is not academic, medical, psychological, or legal advice, and it does not replace a conversation with a counselor, a teacher, or your family.
Nothing in WeGuide is a promise of admission to any programme, a job, a scholarship, or any particular outcome. Videos and stories from working professionals, including those made with our partners, are those people's own experiences and views.
5. How to behave in WeGuide
WeGuide works because it is a safe place to try things and be honest. So, when you use it:
- Be yourself. Do not pretend to be another person, another student, a member of staff, or a mentor.
- Be decent to people. No harassment, threats, bullying, hate, or sexual content, in any message, upload, or profile.
- Keep other people's information private. Do not upload photos, recordings, or details of other people without their permission, and never post anyone's contact details.
- Stay in your own lane. Do not try to see, change, or copy information that is not yours, guess other people's passwords, probe the service for weaknesses, or run automated tools against it.
- Use it as intended. Do not copy, scrape, sell, or republish WeGuide's content, and do not use it for anything unlawful.
If something in WeGuide worries you, or someone behaves badly towards you, tell us through the Help Desk in the town or contact your school counselor. We take reports seriously.
6. What you make in WeGuide
Your answers, reflections, predictions, choices, the artifacts you build, the files and recordings you upload to your Portfolio, and the messages you send are yours. You keep whatever rights you have in them.
So that WeGuide can work, you give us permission to store that content, to show it back to you, to show it to the people the Privacy Policy says can see it (for example your school counselor, or a mentor you write to), and to keep it safe in backups. We do not use your content to advertise to you, and we do not sell it.
You are responsible for what you upload. Only upload things you made, or that you have the right to share, and never anything that breaks section 5. We may remove content that does.
7. Mentors and professionals
The Mentorship Hub lets you read about working professionals and, where your school has enabled it, write to them inside WeGuide. Mentors are volunteers or partners, not WeGuide employees, and they speak for themselves.
Conversations with mentors happen inside the platform so that they can be kept safe. Do not move a conversation to another app, do not share your personal contact details, and do not agree to meet a mentor in person unless your school has arranged it. If a mentor asks you to do any of these things, report it.
8. WeGuide's own content
The WeGuide town and lands, the characters, the buildings, the curriculum, the activities, the artwork, the sound, and the software belong to WeGuide or to the partners who license them to us. You may use them within WeGuide for your own learning. You may not copy, adapt, sell, or distribute them outside it.
Video content made with the Lebanese American University's [LAU ACE programme name] is used with permission and remains the property of its makers.
9. If your school enrolled you
When a school enrols its students, the school agrees a separate agreement with us that covers how it uses WeGuide and how student information is handled. That agreement takes precedence over these terms where the two differ.
Your school decides who is on its roster, which counselors work with which students, and when each Destination opens. Your school's counselors can see the work you complete, in context, as the Privacy Policy describes. If you leave the school, your school will tell us what happens to your account; you can also ask us directly.
10. Availability and changes to the service
WeGuide is under active development. We add, change, and sometimes remove features, buildings, and activities, and we may need to take the service offline for maintenance. We aim to warn you in advance for anything that affects your work, and we will never delete your Portfolio evidence as part of a product change.
We provide WeGuide as it is and as it is available. We work hard to keep it running well, but we cannot promise that it will always be available, error-free, or suited to a particular purpose.
11. Leaving WeGuide
You can stop using WeGuide at any time. You can ask us, or your school, to close your account and delete your information; the Privacy Policy explains what we delete, what we keep for a while and why, and how to ask for a copy of your data first.
We may close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if your school ends its agreement with us. These terms continue to apply to anything that happened while your account was open.
12. Responsibility and limits
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any responsibility that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, WeGuide is not responsible for losses that were not caused by our breach of these terms, that were not foreseeable when you started using WeGuide, or that arise from decisions you make on the basis of what you learn in WeGuide. Career discovery is yours to act on; we help you gather the evidence.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as WeGuide grows. When we make a change that matters, we will tell you inside WeGuide, and for students who joined through a school we will tell the school too, before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows the current version. Continuing to use WeGuide after a change means you accept it; if you do not, you can stop using WeGuide and ask us to close your account.
14. Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of [country / jurisdiction]. Any dispute that we cannot resolve together will be handled by the courts of [jurisdiction], without taking away any protection you have as a consumer, or as a minor, under the law where you live.
15. How to reach us
Students: open the Help Desk in the town. Parents, guardians, and schools: write to [contact email address]. For anything about your personal information, see the Privacy Policy. Our postal address is [registered address].
